Customer’s reviews of Carlton Hotel from Tripadvisor

We stayed as a stopover to Europe from australia for one night in the new wing. The room was great! As I have not stayed in another hotel in Singapore I cannot compare. But for me this hotel was good value and the room had all the mod coms feel and great wifi. Great location and wonderful buffet breakfast!yoshi511

We chose the Carlton on price and location after comparing similar Singapore hotels. Accommodation in Singapore can be quite pricey so you have to be selective with your choices. The Carlton ticks the boxes for price, position, cleanliness and service. What lets it down is the dated decor and a need for an upgrade. The bath and sink plug constantly stuck, the TV remote only worked intermittently and only close to the TV, certainly not from the bed and I really disliked the pillows …. and the slowest kettle known to mankind. Good things were access to MRT (city hall) close to supermarket and food, quite large rooms and a bath.able58

I stayed at the Carlton hotel for 4 nights on a holiday on my own. I found the location of the hotel fantastic across the road from not only Raffles but also Raffles city (shopping centre) which had City Hall MRT. When I arrived there was a bell boy who took my bags for me and check out was a breeze. I was upgraded to a premier room on the 17th floor which was not expected. I had beautiful views of the bay and the city. The room was large and had a very comfortable king bed and a Nespresso machine. The bathroom was also large and very well stocked with creams and soaps and to my surprise the hairdryer was not attached to the wall but in the cupboard. The two bottles of water was a nice touch and very welcomed on the hotter days. I had planned to go to the night zoo one evening. I called the concierge to ask what time it opened as I was going to catch the MRT and bus then a taxi home. He asked how I was getting there I told him and he asked “do you mind if I book you into a tour that will pick you up from the hotel and it will save you at least S$20- S$30″ he organised the night for me which was very nice of him.  Buffet breakfast was very nice and they had a great selection. I would stay at this hotel again. Bronson80

Stayed here for 3 nights post cruise, we were pleasantly surprised by the hotel. The lobby is very grand but is constantly busy with stacks of luggage in the corner. We found staff friendly and helpful. It was a bit annoying that you could only get wifi in the lobby so a lot of people were sitting about there to use it, we were also charged $6.50 to print our boarding passes(15mins in the business centre). We loved the location of the hotel, it’s right next to Raffles Hotel and Raffles City Mall(high end shops), it’s about a 10 minute walk to the Singapore flyer and if you’re feeling really fit it takes about 25mins to walk to the Clarke Quay area(or you could half kill a wee trishaw driver and get him to take you!lol!) Bugis Junction is also about 5 mins walk with an indoor market feel to it and cheaper shops, the area around here had loads of shops and was similar to chinatown. Didn’t have breakfast in the hotel as it was very expensive, but there was plenty of choice nearby. Our room looked onto the pool which didn’t seem to get any sun for most of the day, but was perfect for a cooling dip. Would definitely consider this hotel when returning to Singapore.alih68
